I have a series of progressive studio photos and comments on the work here:

More

The attractive Art Deco design appears in an ad for Conkling-Armstrong terra cotta company in Philly. The 1/2 page ad is in a 1930 issue of "Architecture" magazine. The original sculpture is about 6 feet tall and the ad was used for promoting/boasting about Conkling-Armstrong terra cotta company's latest project- the terra-cotta they installed on Public School 98 in the Bronx.

This school is known as the Herman Ridder Junior High School, located at 1619 Boston Rd, Walter C Martin [Arch. 1929-1931] and is designated a city landmark today.

I created my version of this attractive sculpture in clay and worked on this over several weeks as the clay went through it's various stages towards drying out. I understand the school's panels are some 6 feet tall, a little large to display on the wall in a home. My sculpture however is approximately 11-1/2" wide by 20" high, and weighs about 20-22#

The Old Limestone Grey is a good finish for this and is the default unless ordered with another choice.

New designs

The clay models that can be seen by the work in progress photos on a growing number of my store pages such as 120-R "Elizabeth" Webster Hall Griffin, Nr 202-R girl keystone, Griffin panel Nr SH-R etc are obviously NOT simply molded off existing antique pieces, these hand sculpted models are created from scratch by Randall in water clay, and typically take an average of 30 hours to set up, layout and model each.

When the clay models are molded here with high quality silicone, interior cast-stone as well as concrete casts are available for clients to purchase. The mold making process usually destroys the unfired clay model.

Instead of moulding existing antiques which are limited to what happens to be for sale at a given time at antique and salvage firms, costly to purchase, typically fairly large in scale (meant to be seen from the street 5 floors below) and are more difficult to display in today's smaller homes and apartments; The Lost New York City Collection has been rapidly expanding into creating brand new original models based on authentic 19th century and early 20th century Victorian and Art Deco architectural sculptures. While I do have a small number of direct molded pieces, these are being phased out over time in favor of creating my own original models. There are some 15 designs created by Randall in the last year all in the authentic looking Victorian and Art Deco styles used on these unique 19th and early 20th century buildings.

Original clay models created by Randall (and all of my casts of them produced for sale) carry my stamped model numbers, logo, date of creation and signature on one of the sides. Additionally, the casting number and casting date are inscribed by hand on the back of every cast.

General information applicable to all of my sculptures

My standard cast-stone is for INTERIOR OR UNDER A COVERED PORCH/SUN ROOM ONLY! Out in the garden they might last 4 or 5 years, maybe longer before showing weather damage.

If you are looking for something to place in the garden or build into a wall, I offer concrete as a special order item which takes approx 3 weeks. Not all pieces are available in concrete, inquire before ordering.

All of my sculptures have a heavy wire embedded on the back to hang them on the wall.

I can produce any quantity and custom configurations.

All of my sculptures are personally hand-cast in my home studio, they are signed, numbered and dated. These are finished to order at the time of purchase.

FINISHES AVAILABLE

I offer several different finishes and all finishes are available on all sculptures as you wish. The suggested default finish for each is shown in the ordering menu for each sculpture.
